Autotrader Find: Modified 2017 Ford F-450 for $130,000

You’re looking at a 2017 Ford F-450 that’s listed for sale on Autotrader for $128,981. That money could buy you a really nice Porsche — or it could buy you this thing, which has to be one of the most ultra-well-equipped pickup trucks ever built.

Let’s start with the basics. Trucks have gotten more expensive, and larger, and this truck is the most expensive and the largest: The 2017 Ford F-450 starts at $59,800, and this is an upscale “King Ranch” model, which starts at $73,700 before options and extras. And this one has many, many extras.

For instance: there’s a “custom air lift” built by “Kelderman,” which I presume is some outfit that makes custom air lifts. There are also massive 22-inch wheels and huge off-roading tires — six of them, since this is a dually. And there are custom front and rear bumpers, along with aftermarket shocks, a steering stabilizer, a winch, LED lights and more. Of course, then there are all the factory options: power running boards, various tow packages, the “Ultimate” package, navigation, blah blah blah. Yes, it all adds up to $128,981.

Then we move on to size. The F-450 has a 176-in wheelbase, meaning its wheelbase is substantially longer than an entire MINI Cooper. The overall length is 266.2 inches, which makes it 5 feet longer than a Chevy Tahoe. And the overall width excluding mirrors is 96 inches (a Camry is 72 inches). Add back those giant mirrors, and you’re driving around in a truck that takes up roughly 207 square feet on the road, which is larger than many hotel rooms.

In the end, though, you have to admit it’s kind of interesting to see what’s theoretically possible with a pickup truck. This is among the most expensive on Autotrader, and it’s offered by Hurst Autoplex Mitsubishi near Dallas, with just 117 miles on it — ready for a new owner to use it, enjoy it and take up a lot of space on the road. Find a 2017 Ford F-450 for sale
