Many years ago, in a different time when nobody had ever considered making a 2-door convertible SUV out of a family crossover, Nissan was cooking up something special. Something unique. Something called the CrossCabriolet.

Yes, the Murano CrossCabriolet was a very unusual vehicle: a Nissan Murano, minus two doors, plus a convertible top, an extra rear window pointed up at the sky and ... a huge price tag. When the Murano CrossCabriolet came out back in 2011, it cost $47,000. As I've pointed out, this princely sum of money could purchase you a manatee.

Of course, as we now know, the Murano CrossCabriolet flopped like its convertible roof during the end of the closing phase, and values subsequently tanked -- both new (Nissan cut the SUV's base price in each of its subsequent years) and used (as depreciation quickly set in). But nowhere did deprecation wreak more havoc than on this particular 2011 Murano CrossCabriolet, for sale at Atlanta Best Used Cars near Atlanta, Georgia, for just $13,900.

Yes, you heard correctly: You can buy a 5-year-old Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet for under $14,000, less than a third of what it cost new. Actually, you can only buy this Murano CrossCabriolet for that price, because it's the cheapest one currently for sale on Autotrader.

Why is it so cheap? It isn't because it's been thrashed by a series of previous owners, as this Murano CrossCabriolet has a single-owner Carfax report. And it's not because it's been in several accidents -- this one appears to be accident-free. Instead, it's due to mileage. Despite being just 5 years old, this Murano CrossCabriolet has 113,678 miles on the odometer. That's a lot of Murano CrossCabrioletin'.

So do you have what it takes to own the cheapest Murano CrossCabriolet in America? Of course you do! Because now, after 5 years and 114,000 miles of depreciation, this thing is finally a good deal. I'm jealous of whoever buys it.
