Looking for a cheap 2005 Toyota Tacoma? This one is available for only $4,990, which is far less than virtually any other ’05 Tacoma on the market. Better yet, it’s a one-owner truck that’s spent its whole life in sunny, rust-free California, where the Carfax report shows that it recently passed the state’s stringent emissions test. So, what’s the catch?
It has 445,000 miles.
That’s right, this is an 11-year-old short-bed, single-cab Tacoma with 445,000 miles on the odometer. It features a 5-speed manual transmission and 2-wheel drive, which is the configuration of choice for the type of person who needs to drive 445,000 miles in 11 years. Now, it can be yours! It’s available for just under $5,000 from CARZ, a used-car dealership in San Diego.
OK, so maybe you don’t want a pickup with 445,000 miles, but it’s impossible not to be impressed with the truck’s original owner, who bought it on January 22, 2005, and drove it roughly 105 miles per day for a whopping 11.5 years. More impressively, the truck’s owner did so with virtually no creature comforts, as the single-cab pickup has crank windows, manual locks and fabric upholstery.
It’s also impossible not to be impressed with the truck. Despite covering roughly the distance to the moon and back, this 2005 Toyota Tacoma doesn’t look dramatically different than it did when it left the factory, right down to the front bench seat, which shows surprisingly few signs of wear. The steering wheel isn’t ripped, the dashboard isn’t cracked, and the panels aren’t falling off.
This proves what we’ve always suspected about Toyota pickup trucks: They really can go forever. At the very least, they can drive for 105 miles per day for 11 years straight. Find a 2005 Toyota Tacoma for sale
