Here’s another old-school, low-mileage Autotrader gem: a 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider with just 32,000 miles. It’s offered by Mall of Georgia Mazda in the Atlanta area, where I can only assume it was traded in on a brand-new Miata by someone who wanted to live out their roadster fantasies with a little more modernity.
So here’s the story. This is a "Type 4" version of the Alfa Romeo Spider, which was sold through the early 1990s and offered some major styling updates compared to earlier, older-looking versions. The final model year of these was 1994, when Alfa did a limited-edition going-out-of-business-type run before, well, going out of business. They left the U.S. market after the 1995 model year and didn’t return in full force for more than 20 years.
This particular Spider is the usual colors — red on tan — with a little Italian flag painted into the rocker panels. The interior is nice, although the seats seem a bit worn for a car with only 32,000 miles, suggesting typical Italian materials from its day. Everything else seems to be present, including a hardtop, which is a bit unusual.
I’m especially interested in this Alfa’s Carfax report. It was sold new in June 1991 in the Chicago area, and it appears to have had at least four owners in its life — suggesting that the low mileage was the work of multiple people, rather than just one, which is an unusual situation. This Spider spent time in Chicago, Florida, North Carolina and Ohio, before winding up for sale in Georgia.
Because there isn’t a lot of interest in these (and because Alfa made many of them), values haven’t really shot up; this car — truly one of the nicest on sale — is offered for just $15,988. Not a bad deal for a low-mileage Italian sports car. Find an Alfa Romeo Spider for sale
