Turning a Porsche 911 into a race car isn't the easiest thing to do -- or the cheapest. So here's a Porsche 911 that's already been converted to a race car, and it's ready for you to get in, sit down, twist the key and complain about how narrow the racing seat is.

Indeed, this is a 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe with a cool racing paint job, cool racing wheels and a cool racing interior. More importantly, it's offered by Porsche of Colorado Springs -- not the usual place you'd expect to see a Porsche race car advertised -- for just $26,995, which makes it fairly cost-effective, as Porsche race cars go. You can barely buy a new Miata for that money. You might have trouble building your own race car for that money.

And this 911 isn't just for show. The ad from Porsche of Colorado Springs touts sway bars, a strut brace, lightweight racing wheels, racing tires, a larger rear spoiler and a tow hook. The dealer also says the car has only been driven 6,000 miles in the last decade, noting that it wasn't used for an enormous number of track events -- just driven "a few times a year at Porsche Club track days."

And yes, before you ask, this 911 comes from the maligned 996 generation, with the "ugly" headlights everyone always complains about. If you want to lodge such a complaint, this car isn't for you. Hailing from the 996 era also means this car is a candidate for engine failure, thanks to the weak intermediate shaft bearing -- but the ad notes the IMS was replaced with a stronger part in July 2011.

In other words: this 911 is ready to race. Are you?
