Autotrader Find: Pristine 1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer With 36,000 Miles

As the Jeep Grand Wagoneer has been easing into popularity while it ages, a few businesses have sprung up to restore these now-desirable SUVs to their former glory. But this particular Grand Wagoneer looks like an original survivor — a beautiful preserved 1984 model that’s currently listed for sale on Autotrader with just 36,000 miles.

According to the listing, this Grand Wagoneer is "likely the finest example of an original survivor Grand Wagoneer available today" — something that’s hard to dispute, given its condition. The listing notes that the seller bought this Grand Wagoneer just two years ago from the original owner, who truly pampered it and, clearly, didn’t drive it much. The seller then refreshed necessary items to put this Grand Wagoneer into the condition it’s in today — and it’s truly beautiful.

The Carfax report supports this story, noting that this Grand Wagoneer was sold new in Boulder, Colorado, in February 1984, and owned there ever since, until the current owner brought it to Missouri in 2016. The Carfax report also verifies the mileage, which can be tricky, since Grand Wagoneer models have 5-digit odometers — but in this case, there are many mileage records throughout the 1990s and 2000s showing this Grand Wagoneer’s odometer accuracy.

If you’re interested in a mint Grand Wagoneer, this one is offered by the current owner, a private seller, for $69,000. That may seems like a massive figure for a vehicle like this, but Grand Wagoneer prices have been trending up for a long time — and this is one of the nicest ones in existence.

  1. They can be restored over and over. They can be original only once. Well restored GW’s are selling in the high 40’s if it is really untouched, it is a starting point for negotiations. 911’s did the same thing.

  2. Do all Jeeps of this era have crooked steering wheels? My family had a 1993 Wrangler that was cocked to the left, and this one you can see it doesn’t line up with the center hub.
