If you’re a Volvo fan, you might be interested in this one, as it’s likely the rarest modern Volvo model. This is a 2017 Volvo XC90 Excellence, and it’s the 4-seater XC90 designed for chauffeur-driven passengers. These had a sticker price of more than $100,000 when they were new, but this one has dropped in value.
Here’s the overview: When Volvo debuted the latest XC90 for 2016, a new model — the "Excellence" — was added soon after that was specifically designed to be driven by a chauffeur. It included four seats, rear screens, a rear refrigerator and champagne glasses for the back seats — and the original price was over $100,000.
Unsurprisingly, these didn’t find many buyers, as few people want to be chauffeured around, and even fewer want to be chauffeured in a Volvo. More importantly, you were paying more than a regular XC90 for fewer seats, which was a hard sell for a vehicle that’s primarily used for family transportation.
Now, though, these XC90 Excellence models are getting cheaper, as this one demonstrates. This Excellence has traveled just 13,000 miles from new, and it’s offered by Chicago Motor Cars for a mere $59,936, which is a discount of more than $40,000 from when it was new two years ago. It’s still an oddball, but it’s a depreciating oddball, and it’s increasingly becoming a bit of a bargain — especially when you consider its levels of luxury. Find a Volvo XC90 for sale
