As a car enthusiast, you’re probably generally aware of the Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI — but maybe you’ve never seen one, or maybe you don’t realize it was sold here in the United States, or maybe you think you’ll never find one available for sale. Well, here’s one available for sale: It’s with a private seller in the Denver area, and it’s covered just 74,000 miles. And it can be yours for $17,500.
That’s right, folks: This pinnacle of Volkswagen engineering, and power, and towing capacity, can be yours for the price of a Nissan Versa. This is the lowest-mileage Touareg V10 TDI listed for sale on Autotrader, although that isn’t saying much, since there are only four or five of these things on Autotrader. But they all roughly congregate around this price point, making this low-mileage example a pretty good deal.
So why is the Touareg V10 TDI so cool? Because it’s a midsize SUV … with a turbodiesel V10! Jeremy Clarkson towed an airplane with one of these; I recently showed you my all-time favorite YouTube video, which prominently features a Touareg V10 TDI wiping out the ego of a guy with a lifted diesel pickup. But in case you need numbers, here they are: 310 horsepower. 553 lb-ft of torque. Five hundred and fifty three pound-feet of torque! This thing can pull stuff for days.
And now, this one can be yours. Finished in gray with a gray interior, this one has a clean, accident-free Carfax report with just two owners: one in Texas (and later Telluride, Colorado), from 2004 to 2014, and the current owner in the Denver area since 2014. Maintenance is always a concern with these, and it’s not clear exactly what’s already been done — though the owner insists the oil has been changed “meticulously every 5,000 miles with factory specs each time,” among other positive signs.
With Volkswagen’s move downmarket, this may just be the ultimate VW — ever. Find a Volkswagen Touareg for sale
