Although a Ford Expedition probably wouldn’t be your first choice if you were looking for an SUV to modify, this one is pretty cool. This is a 2015 Ford Expedition, and it’s currently listed for sale on Autotrader — but unlike all the other Expedition models listed for sale on Autotrader, this one was a SEMA show car.
The basic gist is that this is a 2-wheel drive Ford Expedition Platinum, and it’s received a claimed $40,000 in upgrades. The most obvious upgrade is to the exterior: it’s lowered, and it has wider fenders, giving it a more muscular and aggressive look. If Ford ever did a high-performance Expedition, this is how I’d hope it would look.
The ad doesn’t note that this Expedition has undergone any significant mechanical changes, meaning it likely still has the same EcoBoost turbocharged V6 that it had when new — which may also make it a little more reliable than some SEMA show cars, which can be highly modified to the point of breaking. This Expedition has been fully painted, and other modifications include adjustable air suspension, 24-in wheels, improved brakes and, oddly, a power sunroof for the third row of seats.
If you’re interested in this Expedition, it’s offered by Novak Motorcars in San Antonio, Texas, and it’s traveled 33,500 miles from new. It’s listed for $34,995, which is probably a bargain compared to the investment — though, of course, it’s more than similar Expedition models would likely cost without the modifications.
