The 707-horsepower engine from the Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcat has made its way into the Jeep Wrangler. Yes, that’s right: Jeep has built a Wrangler with 707 hp. It’s officially called the Jeep Trailcat and it is, unfortunately, just a concept car.
Built for Jeep’s 50th annual Easter Safari gathering in Moab, Utah, the Trailcat uses the same 707-hp supercharged V8 from the Hellcat — right down to the 6-speed manual transmission. Of course, this isn’t a typical Wrangler. Not only is it painted bright green, it features huge tires, a giant roll cage, and, most importantly, a 12-inch wheelbase extension to help the engine fit.
Naturally, we love the Jeep Trailcat and we suspect most Wrangler fans will, too. But don’t expect to see it go into production anytime soon. Jeep often builds unique concept cars for its fans who attend the Eastern Safari in Moab, and this model will stay as exactly that: a concept car. Fortunately for Jeep fans who want to experience the huge engine, the automaker has confirmed the impending arrival of the Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee. We can’t wait.
