I recently discovered that well-known climber and filmmaker Jimmy Chin has listed his adventure van for rent on Turo. It’s located in Jackson, Wyoming, and you can fly in, rent his van, and have a real adventure.
Here’s a little background. Turo is a company that lets you rent other peoples’ interesting and cool cars, rather than typical rental cars. It’s like the Airbnb for cars, and you can land at an airport, pick up something fun, and take it on an adventure. Turo is home to a lot of cool cars, but this is surely one of the coolest.
Indeed, it’s a 2012 Chevy Express, which isn’t particularly cool on its face, but this one has been decked out in full adventure mode, with a rooftop camper, off-roader tires, two beds, and a propane stove for cooking. It’s also an AWD model, which will help for going where you need to, and it has roof-mounted solar panels to power the accessories.
Making it even cooler is the fact that it belongs to Jimmy Chin, the climber and filmmaker, probably best known for his documentary “Free Solo,” which chronicled Alex Honnold’s 2017 climb of El Capitan in Yosemite — a film that won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. So not only are you renting a cool van, but you’re renting Jimmy Chin’s cool van — and that makes it even cooler.
As I mentioned, the van is available in Jackson, Wyoming, and it’s listed for $250 a day — a bargain compared to hotel prices in the area, since you can easily camp in your van instead. Find a Chevrolet Express for sale
