The Mustang California Special is back. Ford has announced its return for the 2019 model year, along with a few other updates across the Mustang range.
Offered as a design package on the Mustang GT Convertible, the new 2019 Mustang California Special receives the front splitter from the Mustang Performance Pack and unique 5-spoke wheels. Exterior additions include a blacked-out grille, fender graphics and a red “California Special” badge on the trunk lid. Inside, the GT/CS adds black suede seats with red contrast stitching, and further GT/CS branding on the seats, floor mats and dashboard.
Additionally, Ford has announced other enhancements across the Mustang lineup. Manual-transmission Mustang GT-models receive rev-matching technology to allow for the smoothest of downshifts, while EcoBoost models now receive the quad-tip active valve performance exhaust system previously reserved for the Mustang GT.
Bang & Olufson Play 1000 watt, 12-speaker premium audio will also be available.
Finally, two heritage-inspired colors have been added to the Mustang’s palette — Velocity Blue and Need for Green — which should serve to add some pop to the lineup for the coming model year.
Sales of the 2019 Mustang start this summer.
