Here Are 6 Great Old-School Family SUVs for Sale on Autotrader

In the collector car world, SUVs are starting to get popular — in part because “cool” models are aging to the point where they’re vintage, special vehicles, that remind us of a bygone era (namely, cheap gas and horrible fuel economy). Of course, many of them also offer more practicality than vintage sports cars, and more capability — and in some cases, you can bring your whole family. Here are six examples of exactly that — all of which are currently listed for sale on Autotrader.

1987 Chevy Suburban

1987 Chevy Suburban – $28,888

Old Chevy Suburbans are starting to go up in value — or, at least, the few that are left in really nice shape. This particular example is in fantastic condition, finished in 2-tone blue with just 27,500 original miles. It’s offered by Sam Leman Ford in Bloomington, Illinois, and it’s one of the nicest Suburbans from this era I’ve seen in years — and I think it’s a bit of a bargain at $28,888, considering what similar era SUVs (like Jeep Grand Wagoneers) can sell for. 1994 Hummer H1

1994 Hummer H1 – $49,995

Although the Hummer H1 isn’t a particularly comfortable or city-friendly vehicle, it could be a fun family car if you want something that’ll stand out from basically everything else. This particular H1 is offered for $49,995, making it cheaper than top-end versions of the Toyota Highlander — and a lot more distinctive. It’s nowhere near as user-friendly, though, and it’s traveled around 100,000 miles. It’s currently offered by CarPros in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Find a Hummer H1 for sale

1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer – $26,900

The Jeep Grand Wagoneer is, for many, the ultimate old-school family SUV, as its wood paneling and comfortable ride are reminiscent of a special era that peaked long before its final model year. This 1989 model is in nice shape, having traveled 138,000 miles from new, and with a finish in one of the most desirable colors — white with wood paneling. It’s offered by Auto Memories Classic Cars in the Atlanta area for $26,900. Find a Jeep Grand Wagoneer for sale

1993 Land Rover Defender 110 NAS

1993 Land Rover Defender 110 NAS – $139,995

The Land Rover Defender is one of the ultimate vintage SUV models, and the Defender 110 is especially desirable given its four doors and larger interior than the more common Defender 90 models. Although a Defender 110 can be purchased relatively cheaply from a private importer, Land Rover sold 535 examples new in North America for the 1993 model. Obviously, these are quite rare, and this one is a fantastic example of the North American Spec Defender 110, with just 38,000 miles on the clock. It’s offered by Adventure Motorcars in Birmingham, Alabama, for $139,995. Find a Land Rover Defender for sale

1995 Range Rover

1995 Land Rover Range Rover – $23,500

The Range Rover Classic, which refers to basically any Range Rover made up until 1995, is starting to become valuable as people appreciate its boxy lines and old-school charisma. The 1995 model is the one to have, as it was the only year of an updated interior that was more user-friendly (and safer, due to airbags) than other models. This particular Range Rover Classic is in nice shape: it’s traveled 156,000 miles and it’s currently offered for $23,500 by a private seller in Granada Hills, California, near Los Angeles. Find a Land Rover Range Rover for sale

1997 Toyota Land Cruiser

1997 Toyota Land Cruiser – $21,500

The “80 Series” Toyota Land Cruiser, which was sold from 1991 through 1997, is becoming highly desirable, as nice ones are practically impossible to find. This particular example is in fantastic condition, with a well-kept exterior and interior and the all-important differential locker — and it’s traveled just 142,000 miles from new, which is unusually low for a Land Cruiser. It’s offered by a private seller in Dallas for $21,500. Find a Toyota Land Cruiser for sale
