What if Ferrari built an SUV? The high-end Italian automaker, famous for its exotic sports cars, has consistently insisted it won’t happen, but we still can’t help but wonder what this vehicle would look like if it came to the market. Now, thanks to our friends at TopSpeed.com, we don’t have to wonder.
TopSpeed’s rendering of a theoretical Ferrari SUV shows that such a vehicle could undoubtedly be beautiful, as it touts graceful lines and a handsome profile, even if seems sacrilege to purists. Drawing cues from the brand’s FF hatchback, the rendered SUV looks like a more handsome rival to other high-performance SUVs, like the BMW X5M, Porsche Cayenne, Maserati Levante and Bentley Bentayga.
So, why won’t they build it? Ferrari has only manufactured 2-door sports cars, and they don’t seem interested in changing anytime soon. In fact, when recently asked about the possibility of a Ferrari SUV, Ferrari chairman Sergio Marchionne said, “You’d have to shoot me first.”
Although we certainly understand his position, we’re a little dismayed, as we believe a Ferrari SUV would have no trouble quickly reaching the pinnacle of the high-performance SUV game.
