So I'm driving along the other day, headed to the airport, minding my own business, when I see it in a parking lot. It's a Cadillac Escalade with the front end of a Rolls-Royce Phantom. Suddenly, I wasn't concerned with making my flight. I had to get a picture of this thing. So I turned around, parked my car, walked up to it, and took the photos you see above.

So what is this? Obviously, at its most basic level, this is a Cadillac Escalade with the front end of a Rolls-Royce Phantom -- plain and simple. And, in fact, they've done a fairly decent job creating this thing. In fact, as I look closer at these images, I honestly wonder if some -- or all -- of these parts came off an actual Rolls-Royce Phantom. The headlights, for instance, look pretty close, and those odd circular fog lights are fairly distinctive. The grille, at the very least, likely comes from a Rolls -- with the famous "Spirit of Ecstasy" hood ornament retracted into it, which is a function available in the Phantom.

Although I initially thought the revision to the hood -- basically a large V-shaped piece going from the grille to the windshield -- was simply extra metal placed on top of the Escalade's hood, further inspection of the photos reveals it may actually be a totally new hood. Indeed, if you're going to take the front end from a Rolls-Royce Phantom and put it on a Cadillac Escalade, this is probably the highest-quality way to do it.

And, in fact, it gets even more interesting as you scan the rest of the photo. See those doors? I didn't notice it at the time, but this "Phantomscalade" has rear-hinged doors -- or, at least, the appearance of rear-hinged doors -- just like the Phantom. In other words, these people really went all-out for this thing.

I'm not sure if this is an available conversion offered by some company or just some guy with a lot of extra Rolls-Royce Phantom parts, but I admit I'm kind of impressed. Even if it's something I would never want to own myself.
