  • Infiniti certified shops meet or exceed company's standards
  • Network includes both dealer-affiliated and independent shops
  • Infiniti wants to improve service, assure safety and minimize lost value

Because not all body shops approach a collision repair job in the same way, getting a vehicle fixed after a fender bender can be tricky. Some manufacturers use a certification program to recognize shops that meet their standards of quality and service, helping to ensure that no corners are cut in the repair process. Now, Infiniti has a certification program, too. The luxury automaker created a nationwide network of shops certified to meet or exceed its standards in training, workmanship, equipment and customer service.

The Infiniti Certified Collision Repair Network starts with training for collision technicians by I-CAR, the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair. That 30-year-old non-profit group provides collision training for a range of manufacturers including Nissan, Infiniti's parent company. DuPont Performance Coatings, a paint supplier, will assist in the certification process.

Member shops, which include both dealer-affiliated and independent collision centers, will use only OEM parts for repairs. Certified shops can access technical information through an exclusive website.

Service is a key component, too. The network gives Infiniti the opportunity to extend its brand of customer service to certified facilities, says Carnie Colliver, Infiniti Americas' senior manager for parts and service.

"The purpose of the certification program is to provide the resources to help ensure consistency of the repair of Infiniti vehicles on a national basis," said Colliver. "Each Infiniti owner that comes into these certified facilities presents additional face-to-face opportunities to reinforce the Infiniti Total Ownership Experience."

Indeed, Infiniti expresses the ultimate goals of the program in terms of customer experience. Collision repairs performed to the standards set by the program should provide an assurance of safety and should mitigate any diminished value resulting from the damage and subsequent repair, Colliver explained.

Properly implemented, the network could provide Infiniti owners with a simple way to avoid the pitfalls of questionable collision repair. Whether from a dealer or independent shop, these customers should expect a level of service and quality consistent with the premium Infiniti brand.

What it means to you: Infiniti's Certified Collision Repair Network assures high standards of quality and service, taking the guesswork out of choosing a qualified shop.
