Ahh, the holidays. Time for family, food, and…foliage? We’re not talking about the mega Christmas trees adorned with tinsel and bells, however. Infiniti wants to break the holiday mold of big, brassy sales events in favor of something a little eco-friendlier. The automaker is partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant 35,000 new trees on behalf of its drivers — just in time for the holiday season.
“The holidays can be overwhelming and full of expected cliches like big red bows and blow out sales events,” said Allyson Witherspoon, director, marketing communications and media at Infiniti Americas in a press release. “This holiday season, Infiniti wanted to break these norms and empower our drivers and employees by paying it forward with these tree donations.”
From November 9th through December 31st, visitors to an Infiniti retailer will get an ornament that represents one of the donated trees. The Arbor Day Foundation will then orchestrate the planting of these trees over the course of the next year in areas of the country that need them the most.
The folks at Infiniti are even letting drivers see where their trees are planted via a website, so drivers can see the fruits (er, foliage) of their good deed. Customers can also learn more about the Arbor Day Foundation, schedule a test drive and share their support of this holiday tree-planting initiative via the hashtag #NewTradition.
Check out Infiniti’s new TV commercial, titled “New Tradition,” which kicks off the tree-planting initiative.
Celebrating the season by doing good never looked so green.
