- The KBB Brand Image Awards were announced.
- Honda won three, including Best Overall Brand.
- Porsche won two; BMW named Best Luxury Brand.
The latest Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards are out. Now in their sixth year, the awards survey in-market car shoppers to determine their views on the best car brands in a variety of categories. Honda took home the most awards this year with three, while Porsche finished second with two awards.
Not only did Honda win the most awards, it also won the most prestigious award of Best Overall Brand. In addition, in-market car shoppers voted Honda the Most Trusted and the Best Value car brand. KBB attributes Honda’s success to its refined and reliable vehicles, noting the brand is “like the perpetual motion machine of brand trust.”
Porsche’s two wins also came in predictable categories. The brand won KBB’s award for Best Performance Luxury Brand, as well as Best Car Styling Luxury Brand. KBB credited Porsche’s success to its recognizable, upscale styling and, of course, its world-renowned driving feel.
Though Honda and Porsche accounted for five awards, KBB gave out eight more to other automakers. Among the other recipients, some were predictable. That includes MINI for Best Non-Luxury Performance Brand, Ford for Best Non-Luxury Styling and Lexus for Most Trusted Luxury Brand. Some were a little less obvious, such as Buick‘s win for Best Value Luxury Brand. That likely indicates that Buick’s recent marketing efforts touting low-cost luxury are paying off.
Perhaps the second-most prestigious brand image award, the Best Luxury Brand, went to BMW. According to Kelley Blue Book, the award was earned “on the strength of a well-rounded image that appeals to young and old, sporty and showy alike.”
What it means to you: KBB’s Brand Image Awards are a good indicator of the mindset of today’s car shoppers.
