It’s not even 2022, and Land Rover is ready for 2023 with its new Discovery Metropolitan Edition.
The new trim package builds on the standard Discovery SUV with special gray and silver exterior detailing, 22-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels, and features that would otherwise be optional, such as three rows of heated seats, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, a 4-zone automatic climate control system, and a cooler mounted between the front seats.
The model is set to be exclusively available with the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine, which features a 48-volt mild-hybrid system to reduce fuel consumption. Power output stands at 355 horsepower, and the Discovery comes standard with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4-wheel-drive system with a low-range mode for serious off-roading.
The new Metropolitan Edition runs $76,650 including a mandatory $1,350 destination charge. Land Rover says order banks for the special edition are now open, even though the model won’t show up in dealers until next year.
Elsewhere across the Discovery lineup, Land Rover has made a host of previously optional features standard equipment, including:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Heated front seats
- Meridian audio
- Wireless charging pad
- Three-zone automatic climate control
The Discovery starts at $57,695 for 2023, again including that mandatory $1,350 destination fee. Those new features work out to about a $3,000 price bump over the 2021 model. See Land Rover Discovery models for sale
