- New design contest lets Xbox users design virtual MX-5
- Finalists win a trip to South by Southwest, where an overall winner is selected
- The contest is open to Xbox 360 and Xbox One users with “Forza Horizon 2”
Mazda and Xbox are teaming up on a new design contest to help launch the recently redesigned 2016 MX-5. Dubbed the Miata Livery Design Contest, it runs through January 4, and it gives Xbox users the chance to customize a virtual MX-5 Miata in order to win prizes.
Open to those who play the newly released Xbox racing game “Forza Horizon 2”, the contest invites enthusiasts to design a virtual livery for the game’s 1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata. Two finalists will win a trip in March to the South by Southwest music festival, where a final-design showdown will determine the winner.
In addition to taking home an Xbox One and a Mad Catz racing wheel, the overall winner will also get a 55-inch curved TV and a new audio system — prizes valued at a total of nearly $3,500. Additionally, the winner’s design will be made available to all “Forza Horizon 2” players as a free gift.
“In addition to shining the spotlight on the 2016 Mazda MX-5 through the partnership, we also wanted to give Forza fans a way to engage and pick up some cool prizes and see their work featured in the game,” said Russel Wager, Mazda North American Operations’ vice president of marketing. “Fans of the Mazda MX-5 are some of the most passionate enthusiasts out there, and we look forward to seeing the creativity that comes from this contest.”
To enter the contest, users must sign into the Xbox Live service on their Xbox 360 or Xbox One consoles and select the 1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata that’s currently available in “Forza Horizon 2.” After users have finished creating their livery, they must upload it to the “Forza Horizon 2” storefront with the name “MX5contest” by January 4 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
What it means to you: The Miata Livery Design Contest will help Mazda’s all-new MX-5 launch with a bang.
