New 2015 Ford Mustang Ready to Order

  • Dealers are now taking orders for the 2015 Ford Mustang fastback
  • 50th year of Mustang marked with a special appearance package
  • All-new model offers tech features, fully independent rear suspension and three engine choices

For fans of the proverbial pony car, there is no better news than to hear that Ford dealers are now taking orders for the next-gen 2015 Mustang fastback. The all-new model was unveiled to the world some six months ago, and ever since, Mustang mavens have been waiting with bated breath to claim their very own set of wheels off the factory line.

What makes this year extra-special is that it marks Mustang’s 50th year in production. It went on sale in 1964 (as a ’65 model), and from that point on, the Mustang has become the iconic symbol of American muscle.

“From the six cities around the globe where we revealed the all-new Mustang, to auto shows to the recent 50-year celebration events, we’ve received an amazing response from people when they finally see the new model,” said Steve Ling, Ford car marketing manager. “This car is all new with enhanced sophistication and craftsmanship, but it still exudes the essence of Mustang that’s been honed throughout its history.”

The 2015 Ford Mustang will offer three engine choices, each of which can be tied to either a revised 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Powerplant options include: an all-new 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine (producing 305 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque) projected to have class-leading fuel efficiency; an upgraded 5.0-liter V8 (420 hp and 390 lb-ft); and the standard 3.7-liter V6 (300 hp and 270 lb-ft). Enhancing the performance equation are standard, fully independent front and rear suspensions for improved driving dynamics and ride quality over the current-generation model.

In addition, the all-new Mustang enjoys a redesigned cabin with an array of new features, the most impressive being the next-generation SYNC AppLink telematics and infotainment system.

A special appearance package commemorating 50 years of Mustang is available for the Mustang EcoBoost Premium and Mustang GT Premium models. This package includes a chrome-accented grille, a round rear badge commemorating 50 years, and unique 19×8.5-inch alloy wheels, among other visual add-ons.

What it means to you: The 2015 Mustang will have a starting price of $24,425 when it arrives in showrooms this fall, but you have to get in line now.
