- Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban Z71 officially revealed at State Fair of Texas
- Chevrolet also showed off Texas Edition SUVs and Silverado Toughnology concept
- The Tahoe and Suburban Z71 will reach dealers in October
Chevrolet has officially revealed several new special editions of its full-size SUVs and pickups at this year’s State Fair of Texas. The automaker used this year’s state fair to roll out a new Z71 trim level of the Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, along with a Texas Edition of both SUVs and an unusual concept version of the Silverado pickup.
Chevrolet’s most important unveilings in Texas are the new Tahoe and Suburban Z71 models, which add some extra off-road flair to the standard Tahoe and Suburban. Available as a trim level on Chevrolet SUVs since 2000, the Z71 typically boasts some unique off-road parts — and the 2015 model is no different, including a front skid plate, running boards front tow hooks, and larger wheels with off-road tires. Chevrolet says that the Tahoe and Suburban Z71 will be available starting in October, offered as an upgrade on LT models equipped with 4-wheel drive.
Chevrolet’s new SUV special editions don’t stop there: The brand also rolled out a Texas Edition of its new Suburban and Tahoe. Offered only in Texas, the new Texas Edition models celebrate “the Lone Star State’s love for Chevy Trucks,” adding polished aluminum wheels, 9 extra months of SiriusXM Satellite Radio, a trailering package and a navigation system in LT models. The Chevrolet Suburban or Tahoe Texas Edition trim will add $2,195 to the price of a regular LT model or $1,095 to the cost of an upscale LTZ version.
Chevrolet’s last unveiling in Texas is a unique concept version of its Silverado pickup, dubbed the Silverado Toughnology concept. Designed as a showcase for connectivity features and accessories, the truck is presented in a simulated raw-steel appearance to highlight the pickup’s high-strength steel construction.
What it means to you: Texas loves trucks — so it only makes sense that Chevrolet has brought a wide range of new pickups and SUVs to the popular State Fair of Texas.
