Should you find yourself in the enviable position of having to decide between several different Porsche configurations, the German sports car builder has a solution for you. Using artificial intelligence, the automaker’s new online configurator can suggest options it thinks the shopper might want.
Tapping a lightbulb icon pulls up Porsche’s Recommendation Engine, which will suggest a handful of options the artificial intelligence data thinks the user might want. The selections are said to be user-specific, rather than standard suggested options. In Autotrader testing, we found that the suggested options were fairly standard. They didn’t dig especially deep into the automaker’s myriad individual customization options.
For instance, when building a Macan GTS, it was suggested that we add the Sport Chrono Package and a panoramic sunroof. A Taycan electric sedan would work best with an extra-cost charging cable. Though nice options, these are hardly unusual items.
Still, the AI system may help simplify the shopping process for those overwhelmed by the complex options available on Porsche’s sporty cars.
