Rolls-Royce Has Released a Limited Edition Picnic Basket

Rolls-Royce has officially announced the creation of a limited-edition picnic basket. And not just any picnic basket. One that will be individually numbered, beautifully made, and — this is an actual quote from the press release — will "embody the concept of the picnic as an occasion to be savored and appreciated." See the Rolls-Royce models for sale near you

The picnic basket will accompany 50 special-edition versions of the ultra-luxury Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe and Coupe, to be called the "Phantom Zenith Collection." The cars (and picnic baskets) will come out soon, ahead of the upcoming unveiling of an all-new Phantom model sometime soon.

So what’s the deal with these picnic baskets? Each one will be finished in a choice of three color combinations designed to match the owner’s Phantom, and each one will be individually numbered with the same purpose. Color combinations from the press release include names like "seashell." Each one will also include stainless steel flatware, napkins embroidered with the Rolls-Royce monogram, and a handcrafted American walnut chopping board.

But I’m not really doing this thing enough justice. Here are a few more too-good-to-be-true quotes from the Rolls-Royce press release.

– "Rolls-Royce announced… that it will build fifty sumptuously specified bespoke creations named the Phantom Zenith Collection."

– "The picnic hamper completes the trinity of objects created under the Phantom Zenith Collection."

– "Like the armrest cappings inside the car, the [picnic hamper] hinges reference the history of these remarkable motor cars."

– "The hamper will be a true collectors’ piece, marrying Rolls-Royce’s remarkable craftsmanship with its customary eye for detail." Find a Rolls-Royce for sale

  1. I’m assuming that considering there are real utensils and china in this picnic basket, the idea is that real sit-down food will be consumed.  What’s more, having attempted it previously, eating off a picnic blanket with forks and knives leaves one looking, well, ridiculous.  Therefore  A folding table and chairs is necessary for the discerning Phantom picnicker.  None of these items are ones that will presumably fit within the confines of a Phantom, so I imagine the discerning Phantom picnicker will instruct one his employees (his butler perhaps?) to meet him at the picnic location with a cube van containing the all the furniture and trimmings required to necessitate an outdoor picnic.  Along with the caterer.  This all ultimately makes the picnic basket a little, extraneous, n’est pas?
