If you can't imagine getting behind the wheel without a soundtrack for your current mood, Scion has some seriously good news. The automaker is making its touchscreen audio system standard on all 2014 models.

So whether its Katy Perry, Lady Gaga or Imagine Dragons you've got on repeat, audiophiles don't have to shell out extra dough after plunking down cash on a new Scion.

The youthful, more hip arm of the Toyota empire is the first nonluxury car brand to feature a touchscreen audio system as standard equipment across its entire lineup. It's a huge plus for customers who might not expect to have such stellar audio capabilities for an affordable vehicle.

At the core of the system is the 6.1-inch LCD touchscreen, which also includes AM/FM/CD/HD radio technology, hands-free phone capability, music streaming via Bluetooth and an AUX/USB port with iPod connectivity.

In a press release on the company's website, the vice president Doug Murtha said the offering "stays true to the brand's innovative nature and responsiveness to the desires of its youthful drivers." It may be just the incentive young drivers need to take the Scion plunge.

Beyond the base audio system, all new models will offer Scion BeSpoke Premium Audio, featuring the clear, simple, menu-driven Aha (originally designed for touch-sensitive screens of smartphones and tablets). Drivers will receive upgraded GPS navigation with access to Points of Interest and location-based services to find everything from diners to dollar stores. They will also get the Push to Talk function, which recognizes 33 voice navigation, media and phone commands and a new one-shot destination feature, allowing drivers to speak the entire address without pausing. To cap it off, the system integrates seamlessly with popular social media applications, too.

Music lovers will be over the moon with such offerings as personalized music channels and the ability to sift through 30,000 Internet radio stations, podcasts and audiobooks. Scion's own signature station is included, featuring 17 music channels.

The announcement includes 2013 xB models, too. The automaker announced cars that begin production in August or later will also come standard with the new audio system.

So start culling together your must-have tunes for fall. That next road trip is about to sound super sweet thanks to Scion.
