Hyundai’s completely new Genesis brand will soon grow by one. The newest model, dubbed the Genesis G70, was recently spotted undergoing hot-weather testing in Death Valley before it’s officially revealed to the public, likely sometime this fall or next spring. Although the G70 was heavily disguised when these spy photos were taken, they clearly illustrate the sport sedan’s 3 Series sizing and express its sporty character, as it touts large, performance-oriented wheels, muscular dual exhausts and narrow headlights. What’s under the skin is a little less clear, though we suspect the sedan will feature 4- and 6-cylinder engines with standard rear-wheel drive and possibly available all-wheel drive.
The G70 will be a welcome addition to the growing Genesis brand’s range, as Hyundai’s luxury arm currently offers only one model, a flagship sedan dubbed the G90. A smaller model, dubbed the G80 and currently called the Hyundai Genesis, will soon join the lineup, while the G70 will add to the lineup to offer a more complete range.
While we expect Hyundai to show off the Genesis G70 in production form during this year’s auto-show season, we already got a glimpse of the car’s look earlier this year when Hyundai debuted the hybrid-powered G70 Concept at the New York International Auto Show. While these Death Valley spy shots only show a sedan, we suspect a coupe version (likely to be dubbed the G70 Coupe) will soon follow. Find a Genesis G70 for sale
