It seems there's no floor in sight for used Maserati prices. For proof, here's a 2007 Quattroporte, reportedly in working condition, with a clean Carfax report -- and an asking price of $15,900. What's worse: This price isn't really all that uncommon. There are several other Maserati models listed in the $16,000 range.

But let's dive into the particulars of this one. It's a 2007 Quattroporte Executive GT, and it's offered by a private seller in Los Angeles. Although just nine photos are provided, it looks pretty nice in pictures -- and it uses the desirable ZF automatic transmission, rather than the clunky "DuoSelect" automatic in earlier Quattroporte models.

That's a good thing, because I always felt this was the Quattroporte to get. The automatic is smooth and quick, and it offers nicer wheels than earlier models, which give it a more modern appearance. Perhaps more important, it uses the Quattroporte's excellent 400-horsepower 4.2-liter V8, which has an impressive exhaust note and sends the car from zero to 60 in five-point-something.

So why is it so cheap? It isn't accident history: The Carfax report shows this car had three owners, all in Southern California, and no accidents or other major incidents. Perhaps its biggest problem is mileage, which stands at 59,800 -- low for a 2007 model, but fairly high for an exotic vehicle like a Maserati, which is traditionally part of a larger fleet.

Additionally, the seller describes a few of the car's downsides in the Autotrader listing -- such as the fact that it has a few "sticky" buttons (a common problem in these cars), and the driver side sun visor doesn't stay up. But folks: When you're driving around in a 400-hp Maserati for $16 grand, you don't worry about petty problems like the sun visor. Instead, you cruise around through sunny Southern California, listening to that V8 roar...and you worry about virtually everything else.
