Fun fact: There was a vehicle, sold right here in the United States, called the Kia Rondo. It was a small minivan thing. It was offered for three model years. You do not remember it.

Yes, it's true -- there is a Kia you've forgotten. Actually, you've also forgotten the Kia Borrego, which was only sold for one model year, but we've already reminded you of that one here on Oversteer. Now, we're informing you of the Kia Rondo.

So what exactly was the Kia Rondo? Think of it as a competitor to the Mazda5, which is another vehicle you've probably also forgotten. Sold from 2007 to 2009, the Rondo was a tall hatchback with sort of a minivan profile, except it didn't have sliding doors. Unlike the Mazda5, which is a 3-row vehicle, the Rondo had just two rows of seats -- but it did offer a V6. Unfortunately, that V6 was small (2.7 liters), and it only had 182 horsepower. That was only 20 hp more than the base-level Rondo, which used a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder.

Not surprisingly, the Rondo didn't really catch on. Hatchback people didn't want it because it didn't really look like a hatchback; it looked like a minivan. Minivan people didn't want it because it didn't actually offer the practicality of a minivan: It had 2-row seating, and it was really a compact car. And compact-car people didn't want it because its larger size meant fuel economy was a middling 19 miles per gallon in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, even with the 4-cylinder.

Interestingly, the Rondo is still on the market in Canada, where car buyers in Canada's biggest cities prefer slightly smaller vehicles than American shoppers. This is good, because the Kia Rondo's Canadian website says that the Rondo is "MADE FOR [URBAN VERSATILITY]." To me, it looks like a normal hatchback.

With all this said, if you still want to enjoy a nice Rondo (now that I've reminded you about it), you can: There are currently 180 examples listed on Autotrader with an average price of just $5,900.
