These Are the Best Old Luxury SUVs for Sale on Autotrader

The luxury SUV really started taking off in the late 1990s with the arrival of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class and the Lexus RX. Amazing, it’s been 20 years since then — so I decided to take a trip down memory lane to find some excellent examples of old-school luxury SUV models currently listed for sale on Autotrader. All of these vehicles are aging luxury SUVs that have been brilliantly preserved — and they may be collectible someday. In fact, a few already are.

2001 BMW X5

2001 BMW X5 – 65,000 Miles

The BMW X5 really kicked off the sporty luxury SUV trend after the Lexus RX and the Mercedes-Benz M-Class blazed the trail of the luxury family SUV. The X5 came out back in 2000, and it’s rare you see a first-generation X5 on the road anymore — but this particular example is in surprisingly nice shape, finished in dark green with a black interior and just 65,000 miles. It’s offered by United Auto Group in the Seattle area for just $5,990. Find a BMW X5 for sale

1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer – 63,000 Miles

The Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a predecessor to the trend of luxury SUVs that has become so wildly popular, and it was sold through 1991 before being replaced by the more modern Grand Cherokee. Late-production Grand Wagoneer models, especially those in nice shape, sell for big money — and this example was previously restored by Grand Wagoneer expert WagonMaster, according to the ad. It’s now offered for sale with just 63,000 miles by a private seller in Florida for $39,900. Find a Jeep Grand Wagoneer for sale

1990 Lamborghini LM002

1990 Lamborghini LM002 – 29,000 Miles

The Lamborghini LM002 is an amazing SUV, in the sense that it’s incredibly to see an Italian performance car manufacturer create a boxy, angry, crazy-looking off-roader SUV. This particular LM002 is a desirable “American” model, and it’s finished in black with a black interior. These have rocketed up in value over the last few years, and now they sell for big money: many LM002 models have asking prices of $300,000 or more. This particular one is offered with 29,000 miles by Autosport Designs on Long Island with no price listed. Find a Lamborghini LM002 for sale

2002 Lexus RX 300

2002 Lexus RX 300 – 58,000 Miles

The original Lexus RX 300 is a bit of a relic these days, as it was among the very first luxury crossovers. Due to the RX 300’s clientele, it’s not particularly hard to find low-mileage, well-preserved examples — but this is an especially nice one. Finished in silver with a black interior, this RX 300 is offered by McGrath Lexus in Chicago with just 58,000 miles and the immaculate interior and exterior condition to prove it. If you’re interested, this RX has a lot of life left in it, and it’s offered for just $9,900. Find a Lexus RX for sale

2002 Range Rover

2002 Land Rover Range Rover – 51,000 Miles

The “P38” Range Rover, as the 1996-2002 model is known in enthusiast circles, has often been heralded as the best-looking Range Rover, and one of the best-looking SUVs ever — but reliability issues are well documented. This P38, however, has a lot of life left, as it’s traveled just 51,000 miles from new, and it’s in fantastic shape. Finished in gray with a beige interior, this is a handsome P38 from the final mode year, and it’s offered by a private seller in Birmingham, Alabama, for $32,900. 1. “The X5 came out back in 2000, and it’s rare you see a first-generation X5 on the road anymore”- ummmm, yeah- unreliable MONEYPIT!!!!

  2. Every nerve related to the logic in my brain steers me away from any used Range Rover (as well as used BMWs), but the emotional side of me has a deep want for one, ugh.
