Although many people don’t think the words "cool" and "station wagon" really go together, there are a few cool station wagons that would beg to differ. Here are five of the coolest station wagons currently listed for sale on Autotrader — five cars that prove practicality doesn’t have to come at the expense of fun.
This 2006 Audi S4 Avant hails from an era when the S4 used to take on the BMW M3 — and it has the 340-horsepower V8 up front to show it. Better yet, not only is this S4 Avant a sporty wagon, but it’s a sporty manual wagon; it touts a 6-speed manual transmission for extra fun. One of the few manual S4 Avant models for sale on Autotrader, it’s listed by a private seller near Phoenix for $16,495. Find an Audi S4 Avant for sale
Here’s the dream car of every wagon lover in the world: A 1995 BMW M5 Touring, one of the coolest "forbidden fruit" wagons in existence — since BMW didn’t make an E39 M5 wagon, and since the V10-powered E60 M5 wagon is still years away from legally qualifying to be imported. Offered by Enthusiast Auto Group in Cincinnati at $119,990, this M5 Touring is finished in Santorin Blue with a Lotus White interior, and it features the enthusiast-favored manual transmission. Even though this M5 Touring isn’t 25 years old — the age at which imports are technically allowed to start freely flowing from foreign countries — some E34 M5 Touring models have come to the U.S. after a pricey legalization process. The Cadillac CTS-V Wagon is one of the ultimate wagons, in part because it’s one of the only modern wagons you can get with a manual transmission. This 2013 model is equipped with that stick shift, and that has a big effect on its price: it’s listed by a private seller on Long Island for $64,900. Of course, the desirability of the V Wagon is about more than just its transmission: The 550-hp supercharged V8 up front probably has an effect, too. Find a Cadillac CTS wagon for sale
The Dodge Magnum SRT-8 was a full-size car that was effectively the wagon version of the Dodge Charger. Featuring a 425-horsepower 6.1-liter V8, the high-performance Magnum SRT-8 is obviously fast — and its large size meant it was surprisingly practical, too. This is surely among the nicest Magnum SRT-8 models on Autotrader, as it’s covered just 19,500 miles since it was sold new in 2006 — though its asking price reflects the low mileage, as it’s offered by a private seller in St. Louis for $29,000. The latest AMG Wagon is probably the coolest wagon ever made, boasting all-wheel drive, incredible technology, and a 600-hp twin-turbocharged V8 that sends it from 0 to 60 in 3.3 seconds. It’s monstrously, ridiculously fast, and monstrously, ridiculously cool, and you can buy this brand-new 2018 model from Mercedes-Benz of Denver for $127,440. There are a surprisingly large number of these new AMG wagons on Autotrader, suggesting Mercedes-Benz might think demand is higher than it was in the past.
