Today, I’m rounding up some used Ford models that have gone a long distance. Not just "a long distance," in fact, but a massively long distance, as the vehicles on this list are the highest-mileage used Ford models currently listed for sale on Autotrader. Not surprisingly, they’re all trucks, SUVs and vans, though I made sure to include one car, too, just to prove it isn’t only Ford’s big stuff that can accumulate big miles.
This 2003 F-350 has made a truly amazing run, traveling a shocking 515,000 miles since it was sold new 15 years ago. The Carfax report shows that this truck has spent its entire life in the Upper Midwest, which is an easy place to add big miles — and it’s now for sale at Grand Blanc Mitsubishi in Grand Blanc, Michigan, northwest of Detroit, where it’s listed for just $4,250. That’s a small number for a diesel-powered heavy-duty truck — but just how much life is left in it?
This 2003 Ford Excursion is shockingly nice, considering that it’s traveled a massive 463,000 miles since it was sold new. Offered by Legacy Ford in rural La Grande, Oregon, this Excursion is red with a beige interior and doesn’t show as many signs of wear as you might expect. The Carfax report says that it’s a 1-owner vehicle, and that it was sold new in Idaho and maintained well at a Ford dealership. It’s listed for $12,895, and it features the Excursion’s big 7.3-liter turbodiesel V8.
This 2013 Ford F-450 stripped chassis must have some stories to tell, as it’s traveled an amazing 461,000 miles in just five years after it was sold new in June 2013. It looks like it was used for towing, and it probably served as a cross-country car hauler for its big miles, traveling massive distances with a heavy load in back. Of course, that’s precisely what this truck was built for, and now you can continue its life, as it’s listed for sale at Don Meyer Ford in rural Greensburg, Indiana, for $24,988.
This 2012 Ford E-Series is nearly as impressive as the F-450 above, as this van has traveled 420,000 miles in just six years. It looks a bit worse for the wear, with some exterior body damage, but the interior seems fine — and it is, of course, merely a work truck, so the cosmetics won’t matter to most potential buyers. It’s currently offered for $4,000 by Kent’s Custom Cars and Trucks in Collinsville, Oklahoma, near Tulsa.
This 2010 Ford Focus was initially a rental car in Los Angeles, where it accumulated high — but relatively normal — mileage. It was then brought to Michigan by the second owner, who drove it around 43,000 miles a year until it got to its present state — 345,000 miles, making it the highest-mileage non-SUV/truck/van Ford model listed for sale on Autotrader. It’s currently offered for $2,500 by Team One Chevy Buick GMC in Charlotte, Michigan, near Lansing.
