You're currently looking at the single cheapest Rolls-Royce Phantom on Autotrader. It's a 2004 model with 33,700 miles on the odometer, and it's currently available at Galleria Motors in Houston for $89,780.

Interestingly, that's big money compared to the Phantom's primary competitor -- the boringly styled Maybach. Back in March, I covered what was then the cheapest Maybach on Autotrader -- and it was offered for just $51,000. Since both cars sold for more than $300,000 when they were new a decade ago, we can deduce two things from their current prices. Number one, these cars lose a lot of value. And number two ... the Rolls-Royce Phantom is a lot more desirable than the Maybach.

So let's talk about this Phantom. It hails from the car's second year of production, which means it's a very early one -- with very early electronics, including an infotainment screen that's now laughably small and outdated. Although it was sold new in Florida and spent some time there, the Carfax report shows that it primarily lived an accident-free life with three separate owners in Houston.

It's in great shape -- but most people will still undoubtedly have trouble forking over nearly $90,000 for this car. After all, it's a 13-year-old luxury car with 13-year-old luxury features and no long, manufacturer-backed warranty like you'd get with a brand-new model. And there's no doubt that $90,000 will buy you a lot of excellent brand-new models from top-end luxury brands like BMW and Mercedes. It could also very nearly buy you two really cheap Maybachs -- just in case you wanted to start a fleet of used luxury cars.
