What's New for 2016?

The 2016 Bentley Continental GT and GTC are face-lifted. They offer a revised front- and rear-end design, some new styling touches on the sides and new wheel designs on the outside, while interior updates include new upholstery and a revised center console. Finally, the available W12 engine is updated to offer more power and fuel-saving cylinder deactivation.

What We Like

Luxurious interior; surprisingly fast, even in V8 guise; practical thanks to large trunk and standard all-wheel drive

What We Don't

One of the oldest designs on the market; pricey compared to rivals from Mercedes-Benz and others; no rear-seat room

Overview

The 2016 Bentley Continental is the brand's entry-level model, but you'd never know it from the price. The fixed-roof Continental GT coupe starts around $200,000 and goes up from there, while the drop-top Continental GTC starts around $222,000 with shipping.

Still, that's cheap by Bentley standards, especially since the brand's lineup also includes the full-size Mulsanne sedan, which starts at an almost unbelievable $305,000 with shipping -- but don't be fooled by its price. While the Continental may seem like a bargain compared to other Bentleys, it doesn't skimp out on the brand's famous luxury qualities and notoriously impressive performance.

For proof, consider the powertrains: Even a base-level, V8-powered Continental GT offers 500 horsepower, while the high-performance Speed model now boasts a muscular 626 horses, a 12-cylinder engine and a top speed of well above 200 miles per hour. In the middle, there's the Continental GT V8 S with 521 horses and the W12 powertrain, which now boasts 582 hp thanks to some tweaks for 2016.

The 2016 Bentley Continental GT and GTC also earn their luxury status with many standard and optional features. Both the GT and GTC come standard with 20-inch alloy wheels, a navigation system with Google Maps capabilities, front and rear parking sensors with a backup camera, and automatic xenon headlights, while options include massaging seats, a high-quality Naim sound system and a wide range of personalization features ranging from stitching and embroidery to unique wheels, piping and trim.
