We have been loving our long-term 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. It's been a great daily driver, its Uconnect Theater system has been a peacemaker on road trips, and we've even named it one of our must test drive vehicles for 2017.

However, it has to be said that our Pacifica is pretty much this new minivan's best foot forward. There's not a feature missing from our fully-loaded Limited trim level that costs about $47,000. That's quite clearly a lot, and not everyone is going to be able to shell out that much -- so, what are you missing by going with a lesser Pacifica?

Well, I got a chance to drive the Pacifica Touring L Plus -- the trim level just below the Limited that starts at $4,600 less (or $38,295). At first glance, it's hard to tell them apart as both wear the same Tusk White exterior paint. No one would call the Touring-L Plus a stripper, as it's still lined with leather and packed with features. In fact, this trim comes standard with the Uconnect Theater package that's a $1,995 option on the Limited -- effectively, then, it costs about $7,000 less.

So, what are you getting for that? Well, visually, the Limited adds sharp-looking 18-inch wheels and better interior trappings that include fancier seat leather, stitched simulated leather on the dash, a two-tone steering wheel and our car's snazzy, Deep Mocha interior combo. The Touring-L Plus cabin is actually quite luxurious, but the Limited does indeed have a more premium feel. It also comes standard with driver-memory functions, ventilated front seats, a power-folding third-row seat, a navigation system, a panoramic sunroof over the first two rows, a fixed glass panel over the third, and the well-publicized vacuum cleaner (the Limited is sadly the only way to get it). Outside, there are xenon headlights, LED foglights and hands-free functionality for the liftgate and sliding doors.

All of that starts around $43,000, but our long-term car has the Uconnect Theater plus the Sound Group and Advanced SafetyTec Groups that are also available on the Touring-L Plus.

So, does all of that sound like it's worth the equivalent of $7,000? Well, to help you decide, it's worth mentioning how much stuff you get with the Touring-L Plus. It still has Stow 'n Go seats, a rearview camera, keyless passive entry and push-button start, power sliding doors, blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning, automatic three-zone climate control, 8-way power front seats, heated front and second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, rear-side sunshades, Chrysler's 8.4-in Uconnect touchscreen and a 13-speaker upgraded sound system. Plus, as we mentioned earlier, it includes the Uconnect Theater system that adds two 10-in seatback touchscreens, a Blu-ray player, wireless headphones, a household-style outlet, HDMI inputs and additional USB outlets. That's still a ton of stuff.

In the end, the Pacifica's excellence wasn't dulled by going with one trim level down. Sure, not having access to the vacuum sucks (pun painfully intended), but this minivan's many virtues remain intact. Indeed, even the Touring-L at $34,995 has most of the truly indispensable minivan comfort and convenience features (power-sliding doors, sunshades, leather, blind-spot warning, auto climate control). So yes, our really expensive 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is making us happy, but cheaper ones would be doing so, too.
