After several months behind the wheel of our 2018 Toyota Prius Prime slogging through traffic and 60-mile round trip commutes, mileage has slowly begun to accumulate. So just as the odometer steadily approached 5,000 miles, an alert on the dash was triggered stating that it was time for the stylish plug-in to make its first trip to the dealership. Never one to snooze on required maintenance, I made a call to Nalley Toyota of Roswell and scheduled an appointment for the Prius Prime’s 5,000-mile service visit.
Cleared for Landing
Upon pulling up to Nalley Toyota of Roswell, I immediately noticed the intelligently designed crescent-shaped service lane. The high ceilings and tiled floor gave an expansive feeling to the service area and had my mind wandering while I drove past the glass offices of the Nalley Toyota service advisors. Being behind the wheel of the nearly silent Prius Prime with its huge infotainment screen and uber-modern interior felt like landing a tiny starship on some space station from a sci-fi movie as I made my way down the curved service lane. After pulling up our designated queue, we stepped from the car and directly into the office of our friendly service advisor, Kelley. After running through a minor bit of check-in paperwork, I handed over the keys to the Prius Prime and sought out a comfortable spot to play another rousing round of the “Waiting Game.”
While waiting for the Prius Prime to be serviced, I found a seat at the coffee bar located inside the dealership. Nalley Toyota is one of several dealerships in the Atlanta area to have partnered with Cafe Blends, an on-site cafe that provides employment opportunities to individuals who are on the autism spectrum. It’s a unique experience, and just another way that the service experience I encountered went the extra mile.
Done in a Flash
After what seemed like only a few minutes, the Prius Prime was ready for me to take home. The damage? A whopping $0 thanks to Toyota’s included maintenance and roadside assistance plan ToyotaCare. The manufacturer offers ToyotaCare with the purchase or lease of every new Toyota for two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first. Covered, recommended services include replacement of the engine oil and filter, tire rotation, a multipoint inspection and fluid top-offs. I even received both a printed 4-page document on the services performed and results of the multipoint inspection, and a pdf of the information in an email, ensuring that I had multiple records of the visit.
The ownership experience of the 2018 Toyota Prius Prime has been great so far, but the thoughtful, expedient and friendly service I received at the Toyota dealership was pretty much the best I’ve had anywhere — high praise considering I find myself in dealerships getting cars serviced almost every other month. The piece of mind offered by the ToyotaCare program adds even more value to the frugal Prius Prime and makes owning one seem even more attractive. Find a Toyota Prius Prime for sale
