Are you a novice automotive writer looking for a free ride to the New York International Auto Show… plus some big recognition? The Car Connection, affiliated with High Gear Media (a partner of AutoTrader.com), is having a writing contest that can offer you all of the above.

The theme of the challenge, sponsored by Hyundai, High Gear Media and the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), is: “What is your all-time favorite auto show moment?” Writers–start thinking creatively–some of our best stories were born at car shows!

The winner, based on “best overall writing submitted,” will receive airfare and hotel accommodations for two to New York City plus passes to the NYIAS later this month. But the best part, as many writers will understand, is a gig with High Gear Media. As part of the prize, the winner will be paid to write an article about their experience at the show. The article will be published on one of the company’s many websites that include: Motor Authority, Green Car Reports, All Cars Electric, Family Car Guide and All Car Tech.

“Our focus is creating premium content experiences for each of our brands targeting key audiences looking for cars,” said Matt Heist, CEO of High Gear Media. “We are always looking for new ways to find great writing talent and we’re pleased to work with Hyundai and the New York International Auto Show to offer unique insider access for a talented, knowledgeable person.”

Dan Bedore, national manager of social media and public relations for Hyundai Motor America, said, “At Hyundai, we push the envelope in everything we do, from game-changing product innovation to industry-first marketing campaigns to new social media activities that build relationships with consumers…this activity is a new way to bring the whole auto show experience, not just Hyundai, to car fans.”

To enter, writers should submit their own original articles at http://www.highgearmedia.com/iwanttowrite.  The contest remains open until 11:59 PST, April 11, 2011.
