A day after raising prices on 2011 models, Ford Motor Co. is rolling out a new round of incentives for its flagship Ford brand. But on first glance, they don’t seem to be as generous as the ones that just ended.

The automaker has cut some of the cash-back deals from $1,000 or more to only $500. For example, the new 2011 Explorer bonus cash is $500, with delivery by June 30. The former deal of $1,000 cash back on the Explorer expired April 4.

The 2012 V-6 Mustang also has a $500 cash bonus, but that’s less than the up to $2,000 combo of $1,500 cash back with up to $500 in cash on the down payment that just expired.

Ford is offering $180 monthly leases on the 2011 Fiesta for 36 months with $1,789 due at signing. Until early April, that car carried a $500 cash-back deal or 1.9% financing for 36 months with Ford Credit.

The Ford Fusion deal is 0% financing plus $00 cash back or $247 monthly for f39 months with $2,900 due at signing.

The new incentives are arriving just a day after the automaker announced price hikes of an average of $117 per vehicle, or some 0.4%, which Ford said is due to rising materials and an improving economy. It’s Ford’s second price hike this year already.

Ford outsold General Motors in the month of March, based on new vehicle sales in the U.S., which is only the second time since 1998 that has happened.

And Ford isn’t the only automaker raising prices. Starting May 1, Toyota Motor Sales USA will increase sticker prices on most models by an average of 1.7%. The jumps range from between $650 and $900 on Lexus models and the Toyota Sequoia to just 0.4% on the Scion.

All automakers doing business in this country started slashing deals last month, to an average incentive of $2,346 per new vehicle, or $220 less than was offered in February, according to Edmunds.com. The incentives’ drop marked the biggest in the February-to-March time frame since Edmunds started tracking in 2002.

Meantime, Ford is starting to advertise its April deals in new ads starring Mike Rowe, creator and host of Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs.” The ads, from TeamDetroit in Dearborn, Michigan, use the candid comments of real-life owners of non-Ford vehicles after they drove a Ford for a week. The work continues the “Swap Your Ride” theme Ford used last year and in 2007.
