Overview
Porsche’s excellent certified pre-owned (CPO) program covers its cars with a bumper-to-bumper warranty for up to 6 years and now offers unlimited mileage from the original sale date, provided that they’re still under warranty at the time of purchase. For cars no longer covered by the original warranty, Porsche’s plan offers 2 years with unlimited miles of bumper-to-bumper coverage from the date of CPO purchase. Porsche’s certified pre-owned program also boasts no deductible, and it’s fully transferable to future owners.
What We Like
Full transferability; impressively long bumper-to-bumper coverage; no deductible; unlimited mileage up to 6 years
What We Don’t
Confusing warranty coverage dates; no special financing deals; no complimentary maintenance; no loaner car
Program Specifics
Porsche’s certified pre-owned program is one of the best on the market, largely due to the brand’s impressive warranty, which offers the longest possible coverage of any automaker CPO program.
Porsche’s CPO warranty, called Porsche Approved, is actually two different CPO programs. The first offers an extension of 2 years to the factory 4-year/50,000 mile warranty, essential extending it to a total of 6 years. For Porsche models that are no longer covered by the original warranty, Porsche’s plan offers a bumper-to-bumper coverage plan for up to 2 years from the date of CPO purchase. In either case, owners are no longer limited by mileage constraints so long as they remain within the warranty’s time frame. This warranty only applies to CPO cars sold after Dec 1, 2017.
Porsche’s CPO program will accept vehicles up to 8 13 model years older than the current year, which means that some 814-year-old Porsche models are issued a full factory warranty that’ll last an additional 2 years. No other automaker offers bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage for up to 10 years.anything close to that.
Porsche’s program has some other benefits, too. For instance, the warranty is fully transferable to the next owner, should you decide to sell before your coverage runs out. And there’s no deductible for repairs, which means you won’t pay a thing if a covered item breaks during the warranty period.
The drawbacks? For one, the coverage dates can be a little confusing. For example, if you buy a 6-year-old Porsche, you’ll get 2 years of coverage per the brand’s 2-year warranty. But if you buy a 3-year-old Porsche, you’ll get up to 6 years of coverage from the original sale date. You’ll need to confirm with your dealer exactly when your warranty expires and keep that date in mind. We’re also disappointed that Porsche’s program doesn’t offer any free factory scheduled maintenance or special financing rates, because we’d love a great deal on a used Porsche. Who wouldn’t?
Indeed, this is one of the best CPO warranties around. We highly recommend it to drivers interested in a used Porsche, whether you’re considering the brand’s sports cars or its luxury sedans and SUVs. Find a CPO Porsche for sale
