Now You Can Own a James Bond Car

“Spectre,” the latest installment of the James Bond series, has officially been released in theaters, and like usual, it contains Bond’s signature car, an Aston Martin. While Bond has strayed from the brand over the years, he always seems to come back to Aston Martin, and his new ride is one of the sleekest, most exciting examples yet. Dubbed the DB10 and featuring unique styling specifically designed for the movie, Bond’s latest Aston won’t be going on sale to the public. While you won’t be able to buy this one, you might be surprised to find out how easy it is to find a Bond-like Aston Martin by simply searching Autotrader. Here are a few examples.

2008-2012 Aston Martin DBS V12

The DBS V12 is one of our favorite modern Aston Martin models. Released in 2008 and based on the DB9, the DBS boasts some serious upgrades over that model, touting more muscular styling and a raucous V12 with 510 horsepower, 60 horses more than the DB9. The DBS is also easy to find with an enthusiast-friendly stick shift. Most importantly, it served James Bond well, with appearances in both “Quantum of Solace” and, famously, “Casino Royale,” where it rolled over several times during a high-speed car chase. Although the DBS isn’t cheap, it’s surprisingly easy to find. There are currently 29 different examples for sale on Autotrader, with prices ranging from around $120,000 to nearly $170,000 for a low-mileage 2012 model.

2002-2007 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish

The beautiful Aston Martin Vanquish was the star of the 2002 James Bond movie “Die Another Day,” where it included front-mounted machine guns, rockets and shotguns, along with a cloaking device that could render it invisible. In real life, it wasn’t quite so slick, though its breathtaking design paved the way for many of today’s most celebrated Aston Martin models. We especially like the standard 460-hp V12 (later upgraded to 520 hp) and the 0-to-60 time of less than 5 seconds, though we could do without the Vanquish’s clunky sequential automatic transmission. If you’re interested, the Vanquish is surprisingly affordable for an exotic car brand’s flagship model, with prices ranging from $65,000 for an early model to over $100,000 for a later Vanquish S.

Aston Martin Vantage

Although the Vantage hasn’t been featured in any James Bond movies, it comes pretty close. The new DB10 in “Spectre” is based on the Vantage, and it shares the Vantage’s 4.7-liter V8 engine. While there are some major styling differences between the two models, the Vantage offers some serious benefits that may help you overlook the contrasting designs, such as reasonable pricing (early Vantage models are easy to find in the mid- to high-$40,000 range) and excellent performance, thanks to engines ranging from 380 hp in early V8 Vantage models to a whopping 565 hp in the new V12 Vantage S. It isn’t hard to find a Vantage for sale, either, as there are more than 300 used examples currently listed on Autotrader.

Our Take

Believe it or not, it isn’t as difficult or as pricy to drive James Bond’s car as you may have previously thought, as we’ve listed three Bond-like Astons you can easily find on Autotrader for $45,000 to $100,000-plus. Before you rush out and buy an Aston to look like Bond, remember to save some money for repairs and maintenance. Although the Bond films never show it, owning an aging exotic car is rarely a wallet-friendly experience.
