How do you reinvent an American icon? The answer is the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang GT. It looks like a Mustang, and it sounds like a Mustang, but it’s also the most sophisticated pony car on the planet. Here are five reasons the new Mustang GT is a stunning success.
Heart of a Champion
When you’re talking muscle cars, you should always starts with what’s under the hood. The GT’s 5.0-liter V8 pumps out 435 horsepower, and it’s amazingly smooth and responsive. It’s easy to put out big power, but it’s very hard to make it this refined. The 5.0 is a jewel of an engine; the Mustang just isn’t the same without it. Don’t forget to slap on an aftermarket exhaust if you really want to hear that V8 sing.
Independent Rear Suspension
Old-school racers will tell you that a solid rear axle is better at the drag strip, but let’s face it — the previous Mustang had one because solid axles are cheaper. This time around, the Mustang’s got a proper independent rear suspension, and you can really feel the difference. There’s less bouncing over bumps, and the car feels more planted in corners. The old Mustang was often belittled for that ancient suspension design, but the new one’s beyond reproach. See the 2015 Ford Mustang GT models for sale near you
The Mustang hasn’t had a seriously cool interior in decades, but the new Mustang GT breaks with tradition. From the fancy 3-spoke steering wheel to the beautiful aluminum trim and shiny toggle switches, this Mustang’s decked out like no muscle car we’ve ever encountered. Even the shift knob’s a work of art, and the materials quality is good enough to give Europeans pause. No longer is the Mustang’s interior a reason not to buy the car.
With the available MyFord Touch infotainment system, the Mustang GT’s got all the tech features you could ask for. There’s a central touchscreen and a configurable screen in the instrument cluster, and SYNC voice controls lets you keep your hands on the wheel where they belong. Plus, the optional Shaker stereo really gets the beats thumping.
The previous Mustang looked pretty good, but there was something awkward about its proportions. Whatever it was has been fixed, because the new Mustang looks great. It actually looks like an Aston Martin from some angles, especially the rear. When you look at that bold grille, though, it’s still unmistakably a Mustang.
The best part is, the 2015 Ford Mustang GT starts at about $33,000. That’s an incredible value. So, how do you reinvent an American icon? Simple — you transform it into one of the best sport coupes on the road. Find a Ford Mustang GT for sale
