2017 Nissan Maxima: 5 Reasons to Buy – Video

If you’re looking for information on a newer Nissan Maxima, we’ve published an updated review: 2019 Nissan Maxima Review

If you are looking for a luxury sedan, you may want to reconsider, because you may not need to spend those extra dollars. The 2017 Nissan Maxima combines some serious performance with high-end features. Here are five reasons to give the Maxima strong consideration.

Luxurious Cabin

Nissan’s luxury brand is Infiniti, and the Maxima takes on that level of interior. Depending on which trim level you want, Nissan gives you the option to go sporty, luxurious or even both for that matter. There is standard dual-zone climate control. We had the zero gravity front seats which have a sporty style and feel. It has a luxury touch as they can be heated and cooled.

Styling

It’s safe to say Nissan designers knocked the Maxima out of the park. It has an aggressive look, with sharp character lines and chrome-tipped exhaust finishers. LEDs and 18-inch alloys come standard, although our sporty SR trim level had beautiful machine-finished 19-inch alloys. See the 2017 Nissan Maxima models for sale near you

Features

Straight out of the gate, all Maximas receive an 8-way power driver seat, a rearview camera and even navigation which is usually a pricey upgrade. Move on up the ladder to the top trim levels and you can get a heated steering wheel. There is even some amazing sound from a premium Bose sound system, and a cool dual-pane panoramic sunroof.

Powerful V6

Nissan calls the Maxima a four-door sports car, and here’s why: It has a powerful 300 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 with 261 lb-ft of torque. On the highway the Maxima returns about 30 miles per gallon. Those are some good numbers for a 300-horsepower V6. If you crave some extra fun taking corners, just put the Drive Mode Selector in sport mode.

Safety

As far as safety goes, the Maxima received a five-star overall crash test rating, which isn’t just handed out, it’s earned. When you go for anything higher than the SL trim level, you get blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision alert and even rear-cross traffic alert. With the Nissan Connect system, you can track down your car if stolen, just an added bonus for peace of mind.
