If you’re looking for information on a newer Acura RDX, we’ve published an updated review: 2019 Acura RDX Review
Compact crossover shoppers should have the 2018 Acura RDX on their test drive list. It has a ton to offer in today’s driving world, including luxury, a just-right size and much more. Here are five reasons to buy Acura’s entry-level crossover SUV.
As far as performance goes, the RDX is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 279 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque. The 6-speed transmission has smooth acceleration. Although the power won’t blow you away, it does pack quite a punch. We’d say it’s the ideal amount of power for the size of this crossover.
Ample Cargo Space
For a luxury compact crossover, the RDX has ample cargo space. If you need to load up for a weekend getaway, the RDX has you covered. We’re talking over 26 cu ft. behind the rear seats and almost 77 cu ft. with both seatbacks folded down. See the 2018 Acura RDX models for sale near you
Available All-Wheel Drive
If you’re on the fence about upgrading to all-wheel drive, we have to say that it’s very much worth it. The confidence you gain when taking corners or dealing with weather elements with all-wheel drive is very reassuring. As far as miles per gallon, the AWD returns an impressive 27 mpg on the highway. You only gain one mpg more with the front-wheel drive, checking in at 28 mpg on the highway.
In addition to exceptional crash test scores, the RDX has some strong safety features. Hill Start Assistance comes standard, as well as a rearview camera. A safety upgrade that’s really worth it is the AcuraWatch Plus Package. It’s a suite of safety features that include lane-keep assist, a collision mitigation braking system and even adaptive cruise control.
Acura’s entry-level crossover has a very reasonable sticker. It starts just under $36,000. For a luxury crossover with this type of reliability, that’s a great price. Even a loaded RDX with all-wheel drive range in the low 40s.
The Acura RDX has been around for a decade now. If you need a solid, capable and reliable crossover and don’t want to spend big bucks, it’s time to take the 2018 Acura RDX for a spin.
