Occasionally on Autotrader Find, I take a break from strange exotic cars and weirdly modified normal vehicles to bring you some ultra-low-mileage car that shouldn't be ultra-low-mileage. Like, for example, this 1994 Buick Regal GS with 5,200 original miles. When this happens, I'm always wondering the same thing: HOW? And, maybe more pertinently: WHY?

Here's the situation with this one: This is a 1994 Regal GS Coupe, finished in "Ruby Red Metallic" with a gray interior, that's covered just 5,265 miles since its first owner purchased it new on July 27, 1994. And the condition clearly documents the miles: The exterior is gorgeous, and the interior looks like nobody's ever been inside. If you ever wanted to see what a '94 Regal GS looked like when it left the showroom floor, well, here's your answer.

BUT WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT THAT?!?!

Here's the thing about this Regal: It was sort of the tail end of a period where the Regal was really not a very good car, and -- despite being a "Gran Sport" and a coupe -- this one wasn't any better. While the Regal GS later evolved into a sporty car, the 1996 model had just 170 horsepower -- up from 135 in the base-level version. It wasn't supercharged, it wasn't turbocharged, and it wasn't fast. And it was saddled with a 4-speed automatic transmission. It was mediocre early-1990s General Motors at its finest, and these things weren't even very desirable back when they were new.

Which begs the question: Who exactly would preserve this vehicle?

As it turns out, the first owner had it in Delaware for the first 22 years of its life, and the car traveled just 5,144 miles in that time -- though it appears the mileage was applied fairly evenly, at around 550 miles a year. The second owner may simply be the dealer where it's currently offered for sale, as it appears it departed from the first owner in September 2016.

Unfortunately, that doesn't really give us any clues about why someone would keep a car like this so pristine -- so we'll always have to wonder. But if you'd like, you can wonder in person: This 1994 Regal GS is currently offered for sale for just $12,500 at Paul Sevag Motors in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
