This is a 2000 BMW 323i sedan, and it's listed for sale on Autotrader. This, alone, isn't especially interesting. There are a lot of BMWs on Autotrader, and there are a lot from the "E46" generation of 3 Series, which was sold from 1999 to 2005. But this one is maybe the most unusual of them all, because it's a regular ol' 2000 323i sedan that's only traveled 10,000 miles in its life.

Amazingly, that isn't the most unusual part. The most unusual part is that, according to the Carfax report -- which is surprisingly detailed for a car that never got driven -- 7,000 of those 10,000 miles were added in the last seven months. In other words: Back in February, this was a 2000 BMW 323i with only 3,486 miles on the odometer.

So how did this happen? According to the Carfax report, this 320i was sold new in September 1999 and registered in Pennsylvania -- but the service records show it always resided in Illinois. Interestingly, it doesn't look like it ever sat completely undriven: It accumulated 1,500 miles within the first two years, and it had 2,431 miles by August 2005; miles were added sparingly, but consistently, after that. The car left the first owner's hands in February, with 3,486 miles, which is when it went on its big adventure, gaining 7,000 miles in seven months to reach the 10,000-mile mark it's at now.

The real question, of course, is: What's a perfectly mint, totally preserved 2000 323i worth? If this were an M3, we'd be talking big money, but this isn't that -- and this car is now offered by Sam Leman Ford in Bloomington, Illinois, for $16,900. To me, that sounds like a pretty good number with no comparable vehicles to use for guidance -- but who knows if anyone out there is looking for a car like this.
