The Mazda CX-5 is in a solid group of compact crossovers, but it’s one of the few that is centered around the driver. Check out these stats on why the 2018 Mazda CX-5 offers a lot more than its competition.
The CX-5 boasts a distinctive style, and the well-equipped Touring trim level has stylish 19-in alloys. Even the base Sport trim level has some really nice touches like dual exhausts, a rear spoiler and LED headlights.
31 Miles Per Gallon
Mazda offers a choice of front-wheel or AWD in the CX-5. The one engine is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that produces 187 horsepower. Although it doesn’t pack a serious punch, it does return 31 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg in the city with the front-wheel drive.
10-Speaker Bose System
Inside, the CX-5 has a premium and expensive feel to it. The middle Touring trim level has heated seats, dual-zone climate, a sunroof and even a powerful 10-speaker Bose sound system. Going for the base trim level gets you push-button start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and even safety like blind spot monitoring and forward-collision alert. The top trim level has some luxury touches like leather, a heated steering wheel and even heated rear outboard seats.
When it comes to versatility, the CX-5 delivers, as well. The available power lift gate makes loading easy, and there are almost 60 cu ft. with these 40/20/40-split seats folded flat. There are 30.9 cu ft. behind the rear seats, which is ample cargo space.
6-Speed 2.5-Liter Engine
There is only one engine offered, a quiet and smooth 6-speed automatic transmission that delivers 187 horses. However, it would be nice if they offered another engine option with a little more punch.
We didn’t get to mention how much fun to drive the CX-5 is. Take that and add on a sharp design and some really nice features and you get a solid and very capable compact crossover. Check out the 2018 Mazda CX-5, as it could just be the perfect fit.
