2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The Silverado brings forward the changes it saw in the 2019 model year: a new platform, a new exterior, a new interior and new engine and transmission choices. For 2020, a new diesel engine is available on LT, RST, LTZ and High Country models. The Duramax 3.0-liter is a turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine with an all-aluminum construction rated at 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, with a redline of 5,100 rpm. Like the 6.2-liter gasoline V8 engines in the Chevy truck lineup, the diesel uses a 10-speed automatic transmission with either rear-wheel drive or available 4-wheel drive. On the gasoline engine side, the 6.2-liter gasoline V8 engine is now available on Trail Boss and RST models. A Performance Upgrade Package is now available for the Silverado 6.2-liter, adding a performance air intake and cat-back performance exhaust system to raise output to 435 hp and 469 lb-ft of torque. The expanded towing technologies that were previously introduced on the 2020 Silverado HD will now be available for the 2020 Silverado 1500, including 15 unique camera views, and access to the iN-Command Control System from ASA Electronics to provide trailer controls. Adaptive Cruise Control is available for the first time in 2020, using a single high-mounted camera behind the rearview mirror to maintain a safe cruising distance from the vehicle ahead. The WT (Work Truck)comes standard with 17-in steel wheels, automatic headlights, a corner bed step, power windows and locks (extended and crew cabs), a rearview camera, a 40/20/40-split front bench with 4-way adjustment, a tilt-only steering wheel, vinyl upholstery and flooring, a 7-in touchscreen, Bluetooth, one USB port, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a 6-speaker sound system (two speakers in regular cab). The Custom adds 20-in alloy wheels, heated power mirrors, cruise control, cloth upholstery and carpeting. The Custom Trail Boss adds a 2-in suspension lift, Rancho monotube shocks, special 18-in wheels, Goodyear Duratrac all-terrain tires and a trailering package, plus the Z71 Off-Road package that includes a 2-speed transfer case, automatic locking rear differential, hill-descent control and skid plates. The LT comes standard with 17-in alloy wheels, and adds automatic LED headlights, automatic climate control, an 8-in touchscreen, three USB ports, OnStar and 4G LTE Wi-FI and cruise control. The RST adds 18-in wheels, LED foglights, a power-locking tailgate, keyless ignition and entry and two extra rear USB ports. The LT Trail Boss builds on the LT's features with the off-roading equipment from the Custom Trail Boss. It shares the RST's upgrades as well. The LTZ adds dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8-way power driver's seat, heated front seats, a heated tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, power-folding and driver-side auto-dimming mirrors. The High Country adds parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic assist, upgraded digital gauges, a power tailgate, ventilated front seats, navigation, a Bose audio upgrade, wireless smartphone charging and a spray-in bedliner. In late 2019, Chevrolet debuted a new off-road racing version of the Silverado. This racing version of the Silverado started life as a Silverado LT Trail Boss with a 420-hp, 6.2-liter V8 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The truck is competing in a “stock” racing class which may indicate that a genuine Ford Raptor competitor is coming soon from Chevrolet. Changes to the standard Trail Boss model include long travel suspension, front and rear jounce shocks and a set of prototype high-capacity Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSV) dampers. Other upgrades for the racing version of the Silverado include 35-inch off-road tires and skid plates covering the transfer case, steering gear, rear differential and front underbody. None of these modifications are all that radical and could easily make their way into a top off-road trim of the Silverado by 2021
