5 Best Used Nissans Under $10,000

If you’re looking for a value-packed reliable used vehicle, consider a Nissan. Known for undercutting the competition when it comes to cost, it’s possible to find a great deal on a used Nissan sedan, hatchback or SUV, and here we’ll outline five used Nissans available for around $10,000 or less. At this price point, any vehicle you buy will likely come with higher miles on the odometer, so we recommend having a prepurchase inspection completed by the mechanic or dealership of your choosing prior to completing the sale.

2017 Nissan Sentra

2013-2017 Sentra

The Sentra is Nissan’s compact sedan offering, and it’s one of the more modern used Nissans you’ll be able to find for under $10,000. Engine options in the Sentra are pretty basic; there’s a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder that makes 130 horsepower, or a turbocharged NISMO model, which put out 188 hp, although given that the NISMO model came out for 2017, you’ll be hard pressed to find one for under $10,000. While the seventh-generation Sentra came out for the 2013 model year, we recommend targeting a more modern example from the 2016 or 2017 model year if you’ve got $10,000 to spend. Right now on Autotrader, there are over 1,000 to choose from. Find a Nissan Sentra for sale

2017 Nissan Altima

2013-2018 Altima

One of the top-selling Nissan’s of all time, the Altima has long been one of the top vehicles offered in the midsize sedan segment, and it’s currently possible to pick up an Altima from the 2013 through 2018 model years for around $10,000 with relative ease. The Altima sold from 2013 through 2018 came with either a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine or a 3.5-liter V6. The 4-cylinder makes 180 hp, while the V6 puts out 270, quite powerful for this segment. With the 4-cylinder, expect to see 27 miles per gallon in the city, 39 mpg on the highway and 31 mpg in combined driving, while the V6 is rated at 22 mpg city, 32 mpg highway and 26 mpg combined. Right now on Autotrader, there are loads of 2013-2018 Altimas listed for around $10,000, over 50 of which are V6 models. Find a Nissan Altima for sale

2013 Nissan Rogue

2008-2013 Rogue

The Nissan Rogue debuted for the 2008 model year and has since become one of the best-selling compact SUVs on the market. The Rogue offers a spacious interior, a good ride quality and decent fuel efficiency. The Rogue’s continuously variable automatic transmission is rough and unrefined, but it does allow the vehicle to return respectable fuel economy of 22 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. There are currently well in excess of 1,000 first-generation Nissan Rogues listed for sale on Autotrader for under $10,000, many of which come with all-wheel drive. Find a Nissan Rogue for sale

2017 Nissan LEAF

2011-2017 Nissan Leaf

The Leaf is Nissan’s all-electric offering and is a great fit for anyone who makes mostly short trips and has the means to charge a vehicle overnight. The Leaf debuted for the 2011 model year with about 73 miles of range on a full charge, though an update for 2016 saw that figure increase to 107 miles. At the $10,000 mark, expect to find Leafs from the 2011-2015 model years, and there are currently close to 400 listed for sale on Autotrader that would fit the bill. While it won’t make for a good road trip vehicle given its limited range, the Leaf is an excellent as a second vehicle or for those with a short commute, and its hatchback body style allows for extra practicality. 2015 Nissan Xterra

2005-2015 Nissan XTerra

The XTerra is a rugged body-on-frame SUV. As the Toyota 4Runner is to the Tacoma, the XTerra is to the Frontier, and the two vehicles share a lot of their major components. While the 4Runner has enjoyed massive sales success in recent years, Nissan opted to discontinue the XTerra after the 2015 model year. As a result of its discontinuation, it’s possible to get a great deal on a used XTerra, and it makes for a great $10,000 utility vehicle. Under the hood you’ll find a 4.0-ltier V6 that put out 265 hp. This came mated to either a 5-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual, something you can’t get on a 4Runner from the same era. There are currently close to 400 2005-or-newer XTerras listed for sale on Autotrader for around $10,000, over half of which come with 4-wheel drive. Find a Nissan XTerra for sale
