2019 Chevrolet Silverado Overview - Completely redesigned, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is re-engineered from the ground up. This pickup is the fourth-generation Silverado. It’s larger and better overall. It’s bigger, more comfortable, and less fuel-thirsty than the Silverado it replaces. It features more passenger space and loads of available advanced safety tech. We like the reimagined Silverado’s bounty of engine choices, abundance of cargo space, ingenious towing features, and smooth ride. For the first time on any pickup truck, you can raise or lower the power tailgate with the key fob when appropriately equipped. Chevy separates the Silverado into eight grades. They are anchored by the Work Truck (WT) and crowned by the High Country. Arranged between them are Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, and LTZ. You may choose a Regular Cab (WT only), Double Cab, or Crew Cab. Depending on the cab style, Chevy offers three cargo-box lengths. A 4.6-liter V6, two versions of the 5.3-liter V8, a 2.7-liter turbo 4-cylinder, a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbodiesel, and a 6.2-liter V8 comprise the engine lineup. The best fuel economy is with the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 available in the LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country. With RWD, it delivers 23 mpg city/33 mpg highway/27 mpg combined. If you opt for 4WD, the mileage drops to 23 mpg/29 mpg/25 mpg. Next is the 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that’s standard for the LT and RST. It gets 20 mpg/23 mpg/21 mpg with RWD and 19 mpg/22 mpg/20 mpg with 4WD. The WT and Custom with the 4.3-liter V6 provide 16 mpg/21 mph/17 mpg with RWD and 15 mpg/20 mpg/17 mpg with 4WD. In the Custom Trail Boss the numbers for the 4.3L drop to 14 mpg/18 mpg/16/mpg. Finally, the 5.3-liter V8 in the LTZ, and High Country delivers 17 mpg/24 mpg/20 mpg with RWD. Adding 4WD drops those numbers to 16 mpg/22 mpg/18 mpg. In the LT Trail Boss, the 5.3L mileage is 16 mpg/21 mpg/18 mpg.
 
Which 2019 Chevrolet Silverado trim is the safest? - No third party has crash tested the Silverado Double Cab. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has tested the Crew Cab, which got the highest score of Good in five of six tests. In government crash testing, the Silverado received an overall rating of four out of the maximum of five stars. Every Silverado has stability control, antilock brakes, hill-start assist, and a rearview camera. Standard on the High Country and optional on every trim beginning with the LT, is the Safety Package. It includes front-rear park assist, lane-change alert, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
