The Volkswagen Routan was a minivan produced from 2009 to 2014 and was discontinued due to lagging sales. While VW has a storied history of vans and SUVs dating back to the 1960s, the brand moved away from passenger vans and minivans by the early 2000's. While the styling of the Routan didn't win over the hearts and minds of many minivan shoppers, the vehicle wasn't a complete dud. Reliable and spacious, what more could you ask for in a minivan? Quite a lot, actually and as competitors offered more technology and features in their minivans, the Routan didn't adjust to the shifting needs of families.
