A 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission powers the front-wheels and is capable of producing 187-194 horsepower and the all-wheel-drive, T5 version produces 247 horses. Unless you really need AWD, we think the T4 front-wheel drive version will meet most driver's needs. Besides the wide array of six airbags, standard safety features include forward-collision warning, automatic braking system, lane-keeping assist, a driver-inattention warning system, and a rear collision-mitigation system. Thanks in part to its tall, narrow profile the driver sits a bit upright and high giving a truck-like feel but this doesn't detract from the ride. <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/2021/volvo/xc40" target="_blank">2021</a> was the first year an impressive list of numerous features became standard in the base version of the XC40: active blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, full LED headlights with automatic high beams and active bending lights, LED fog lights, leather upholstery, power-folding/self-dimming side mirrors, and two USB-C ports for rear passengers.
